One of the most untouched and wild paradises of Portugal is the Berlengas archipelago, situated approximately 6 miles west of Cape Carvoeiro. It consists of three small islands, Berlenga Grande, Estelas and Farilhões. At the top of the island we can admire the Lighthouse Duque de Bragança (1841), and descending from the Lighthouse, we find the beautiful Fort of Saint John the Baptist. It is here that now a hotel that allows the singular and spartan accommodation in small cells of the fort.
